Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with the representatives of the “Roche Egypt” company to discuss strengthening health care systems for multiple sclerosis patients (MS) through a strategic partnership aimed at improving early diagnosis and treatment, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new administrative capital.
During the meeting, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of integrating artificial intelligence techniques into the early diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, and the need to develop monitoring and discovery tools to accelerate the diagnosis and improve the quality of treatment.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, pointed out that the meeting began by reviewing the strategy of Roche to support the Egyptian health sector, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of the multiple sclerosis treatment centers, while the minister indicated that the state annually issues about 28 thousand treatment decisions at its expense for this disease, which reflects its commitment to reduce the burden on patients through cooperation with the private sector.
After the meeting, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and the Roche Egypt company, where the memo was signed by Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives, and Dr. Ziyad Al -Ahwal, Head of the Government Affairs and Health Policy Sector at Roche Company.
The protocol aims to support the development of medical services for multiple sclerosis patients, as the memo states to improve the quality of services in government facilities by updating the diagnostic tools using advanced technologies, providing modern treatment options, activating medical protocols according to international standards, as well as raising the efficiency of injection centers in the ministry hospitals, evaluating the readiness of establishments to provide basic care, and establishing a national record for multiple sclerosis patients to support Data -based decisions, while adhering to the legal framework of the Egyptian Health Council, in addition to training medical cadres through specialized programs to enhance their capabilities and improve the care provided.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of Cairo University, Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers, Dr. Mohamed Al -Akkad, Director of Specialized Medical Councils.
