Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Germany and Britain have taken a positive position on selling Eurofighter fighter planes to Turkey.
The Turkish president added that his country wanted to end the purchase as soon as possible.
Türkiye is holding talks on the purchase of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, which is made by an alliance that includes Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain, represented by Airbus and BAS Systems and Leonardo companies.
“The British and the Germans deal with this positively, I think we will receive our combat aircraft as soon as possible,” Erdogan told reporters on the plane on his return from northern Cyprus.
“In my meetings with British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, I saw that they were looking at the issue positively and we hope to take this step,” he added in the comments published today, Monday.
