“The E -Crime Control Department of the General Administration of Anti -Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security managed to arrest a 36 -year -old woman with Gulf nationality, after her visit to Bahrain’s misuse of social media, by publishing content that calls for immorality and bringing in violation of public morals.”
This was the summary of the news reported by the newspaper “Al -Watan”, last Thursday, which carries more than merely. It reflects an open battle, sometimes silent, but it exists every day between those who seek to protect the fabric of society, and those who try to tamper with it under the cover of “personal freedom”, “entertainment” or even “trend”.
Social media is not absolutely evil, but rather a mirror of society, and a tool that can be used for construction or demolition, but it has turned into the hands of some of the means of demolishing values, blowing up principles and diluting concepts. When these means are used to spread ideas or contents that violate our religious and cultural values, the issue is not only related to taste or style, but by shaking the rules of belonging and community discipline, and distorting identity before the new generations.
The painful in these repeated scenes is that some of them are promoted as “freedom of expression”, while in essence it is an exploitation of electronic space in order to pass practices that affect public modesty, provoke collective awareness, and break the moral barrier that Arab and Islamic societies have been preserving for decades.
Perhaps the most dangerous thing is that the repetition of such behaviors has a negative impact on people’s confidence in the media, and makes many see the digital scene space for escaping, noise and banality.
But there are those who do not sleep; The Department of Electronic Crime Standing stands today in the front row of this challenge, its national, religious and cultural duty to monitor moral, security and economic violations, and the pursuit of those who crossed within the law, and within a clear framework consistent with the Kingdom’s policy in the maintenance of society, not imposing guardianship on it.
This administration does not fight people, but rather fights a destructive behavior, and saves our digital spaces from turning into platforms for corruption or tools for westernization, and this role protects the national culture from corrosion, and preserves the comprehensive image of our Arab and Islamic identity.
What is happening today is not a coincidence, as there are those who want to show all the values “old”, and all norms “restriction”, and all “reactionary” discipline.
Hence, protecting society from this soft infiltration, which is sometimes through the joke, or a satirical scene, or a transient clip, becomes a shared responsibility between institutions, the media, and individuals themselves, the means of communication are not spaces without guarding, and whoever uses it for abuse must be held accountable.
The story of values starts from a word, and collapses silently in front of a clip, and each of us has a role, and every light in this darkness has a value.
