The Electricity and Water Authority announced the package of future projects that is scheduled to extend to 2040, within the energy transformation plan, which was formulated in 2023, to represent a road map to transform from fossil fuels to more sustainable energy sources, and the plan attaches great importance to supply security, diversifying energy sources, reducing carbon emissions and improving cost by enhancing efficiency in energy and water production.
The authority indicated on its website to the expectations of energy demand in the Kingdom, which is estimated to reach 28 Tira/hour by 2040, which is more than 40% from the demand in 2023, and the plan aims to reduce natural gas consumption by more than 30% by 2040 and meet more than 45% of energy demand from clean sources.
The plan also aims to reduce carbon emissions by 5%, increase renewable energy sources and reduce carbon emissions and supply security through diversification and improve cost, as well as provide 20% of clean energy by 2035, with an advanced strategy for renewable energy sources.

The Electricity and Water Authority is scheduled to launch an ambitious project to establish a solar energy station in the role of the Al -Dour in the southern governorate, which is an expansion to benefit from solar energy, in line with the national goals to diversify and sustain energy sources, and in a way that contributes to achieving the comprehensive goals of the energy transformation plan in the Kingdom.
It is expected that the station will produce between 90 to 100 megawatts of solar energy, while the project is located in two locations adjacent with an area of 830 thousand square meters, and is integrated with the network through the sub -floor station 66/11 km.
Al Jasra Station
One of the main strategic projects for the Electricity and Water Authority, as it includes the construction of a sub -station of 400 km in Al -Jasra and the installation of three nutrients 400 km to Al -Riffa Station and Umm Al -Hasam 400 km, in addition to re -creation of nine nutrients 220 kW and 66 km.
The project aims to enhance the electrical connection between Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, facilitate the exchange of commercial energy and enhance transportation networks.
It will also contribute to the development of the electrical connection, by converting the current connection from 220 kW voltage to 400 km voltage at the Jasra station, and also aims to reduce the excess load on sub -transport systems in Riffa and Umm Al -Hasam, and ensure the stability and reliability of the electricity network.
The station is expected to start working by 2026, in line with long -term infrastructure goals in Bahrain and its commitment to providing high -quality electricity and water services to all subscribers.
A solar energy field at the University of Bahrain from the future projects of the authority, the establishment of a 46.2 -megawatled Energy Energy Field on the University of Bahrain, in line with the Energy purchase agreement, where the Electricity and Water Authority will work as a single investor in this initiative, which includes the construction, ownership, operation and maintenance model (Boom) for the solar PV system, and the authority invests in this project 9 million dinars.
The production of the overseeing water is also planning the Electricity and Water Authority to create a new water production station using the reverse osmosis technology for salt water desalination in the Hamala station for groundwater, and this facility was designed to produce 10 million gallons of drinking water daily by desalination of salt groundwater, which enhances water supplies in Bahrain.
A new transport and distribution station will be created to replace the old infrastructure, which ensures an effective and reliable distribution of water while reducing the loss to the minimum, and the station will meet the increasing demand for water, and contribute to achieving long -term water security goals in the Kingdom, using techniques that keep pace with modern environmental developments, including energy -saving systems
To reduce carbon emissions and operating costs.
A dialogue station for water desalination with reverse osmosis in support of urban development and development projects in the Hawar Islands, the Electricity and Water Authority is planning to build a seawater desalination plant in the Hawar Islands, with a preliminary production capacity of 1 million gallons per day, while the storage capacity is 2 million gallons, with the possibility of increasing the production capacity in the future according to the development programs of the Hawar Islands. The facility will include Two ground storage tanks, each with a capacity of one million imperial gallons, in addition to efficient water distribution pumps, to provide a trusted source dialogue for drinking water, contributing to water security and sustainability in the islands, and keeps pace with development projects in the region.
Solar in the Algerian Plage The project includes the creation of a new solar farm by the private sector, with the BOO building, ownership and operation system, by installing solar photovoltaic units with an independent production system of IPP, as includes the farm integration work with the electricity and water transfer network. Commercial operation is scheduled to start by mid -2027, where the Electricity and Water Authority contracts with Consulting company for evaluating the project requirements and drafting the application for submitting offers. New sub -stations with a effort of 66 kilograms, the Electricity and Water Authority intends to establish a number of new sub -stations over the next four years, to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in an initiative aimed at developing the capacity of the transport network, where this ambitious project will be produced in addition to approximately 420 MB of fixed power, to ensure supply A reliability of electricity to meet the needs of steady population and economic growth, infrastructure development, and promoting sustainable energy in the region. The project includes the creation of 9 new sub -stations with a voltage of 66 km, in addition to 66 km nutrients and associated cable extensions. These sub -stations are distinguished by their strategic locations in different regions in Bahrain, and are an essential part of the Electricity and Water Authority initiative to develop transportation networks. Two new sub -stations will be operated in 2026, 4 sub -stations in 2027, then 3 sub -stations in 2028.
