The Colombian President Gustavo Petro threatened today, Wednesday, to change the franchise contract of the Gilinkor Mining and Trade Company in Colombia unilaterally, if the company continues its exports to Israel.
This threat came during an energy event, where Petro said: I am ready to change the unilateral franchise contract.
“Glencourt” confirms compliance with the decision
President Petro warned that if Glenkor refuses the world’s largest coal supply company, compliance with the decision to suspend shipments, he will be asked for residents close to the mine to impose a siege on it.
In a quick response, Glencourt confirmed its commitment to the presidential decision.

President Petro commented the export of coal to Israel because of its attack on the Gaza Strip.
The Sergon Mine of Glencourt Company, located in the northeastern La Jokis region, is one of the largest open coal export mines in the world. The mine includes a railway line with a length of 150 km and a port overlooking the Caribbean.
The production of Sergon Mine was 19 million tons in 2024.
The company announced last March that it would reduce its annual coal production by 5 and 10 million tons, due to the low prices of minerals.
