Business analysis is not just numbers!

In a time when artificial intelligence tools accelerate, the patterns of the auxiliary analysis expand, and the data is used extensively in supporting institutional decision -making, there remains a fundamental question that should be raised: Who is the essence of this analysis? Is it the number? Or the person who stands behind him?

Business analysis, technically understood, is based on data analysis and evaluation of operations using models, equations and reports. But in its deeper essence is not a deaf equation, but rather a system of thinking aimed at understanding human behavior within the work environment, analyzing the conditions of performance, and providing deep readings a balance between human efficiency and digital methodology. And when we lose sight of the human dimension; We lose what is more valuable than accuracy, which is a true understanding. Not every decline in performance is a functional imbalance, nor every height in the numbers is necessarily success. Behind every indicator of a story, and behind every percentage of circumstances, and behind every decision of an employee who works, strives, hopes and faces, and he may succeed or stumble, but in the end a person.

One of the research studies I presented, during my academic career, to obtain a PhD in business analysis, is based on developing a smart prediction model that helps enhance employee performance evaluation, using artificial intelligence techniques and machine learning algorithms. The results of the experimental study were not only revised the accuracy of the models that you used only; In the depth of the factors and performance indicators that were rooted in basic human elements, most notably the work environment, communication skills, a sense of belonging, organizational clarity, leadership support, and the balance between life and work. These factors, although it is difficult to translate into mathematical equations, its impact is profound in each accurate prediction model.

Here, the importance of we redefine the role of business analyst; It is not like someone who collects data, analyzes them and compares numbers only, or just an expert in providing smart solutions and employing modern technologies; Rather, as an intelligent listener, a monitor of human patterns, an understanding of reality, and aware of its hidden details. The successful model does not succeed because it is only technically accurate, but because it is a human being, and it is realistic, and strategically influential. And most importantly; To believe that the data is not always neutral, it picks up what we decide to measure, and ignore what we lose sight of. Therefore, the human dimension must be at the heart of every analysis: in the way of collecting data, in its interpretation, and in the recommendations resulting from it.

We are in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and praise be to God, we live in a era in which efficiency is enhanced, honored in it, and a person is respected. Our wise leadership, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, established the pillars of justice, development and empowerment. The vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, came to enhance this approach through a national strategy based on efficiency, innovation, and smart shift, and in all paths of development work with His Highness’s belief that the citizen is its primary axis.

In light of this vision, it becomes our responsibility as researchers, practitioners and administrators; To contribute to developing institutional performance with open eyes to humans, not only numbers. The more the tools of the analysis expanded and advanced, the greater the need to turn in our administrative awareness to understand that empowerment begins with the understanding of man, and that the analysis is complete only when the numbers are read in light of values, the data is understood in the language of conscience, and the decisions are built on the basis of appreciation before the evaluation.
