On Sunday, the Jordanian Armed Forces announced that they thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotic drugs across the eastern border by “balloons” equipped with remote steering devices.
An official military source said that the border guards in the Eastern Military Region, in coordination with the security services and the Anti -Narcotics Administration, monitored a balloons group inside the responsibility area, where they were intercepted and dropped with their cargo inside Jordanian territory.
The source added that after searching the site, it was found that the balloons are loaded with narcotic substances, and the seizures were transferred to the competent authorities.
He stressed that the Jordanian armed forces will continue to use all their military and technological capabilities to protect the border and prevent drug smuggling and everything that would prejudice the security and stability of the homeland.
