Osama Abdullah Al -Absi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Italian Republic and the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the second United Nations Summit of Food Systems (UNFSS +4), hosted by the Republic of Italy and the Democratic Federal Republic of Ethiopia at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Committee of the United Nations in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
The opening session of the conference was held in the presence of Abi Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Democratic Federal Republic of Ethiopia, Georgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, and Amina C. Muhammad, Deputy Secretary -General of the United Nations and President of the United Nations Group for Sustainable Development, and the participation of a number of senior officials, researchers and representatives of civil society organizations from different countries of the world.
During the summit, progress has been evaluated since the United Nations First Food Summit in 2021, in addition to discussing ways to enhance accountability, stimulate investment and financing, and enhance collective commitment at all levels to accelerate the pace of achieving sustainable development goals and to ensure directing investments, financial resources, partnerships and governance mechanisms effectively towards achieving sustainable and comprehensive food systems capable of resilience by 2030.
