Qatar, Egypt and the United States presented an updated suggestion of the ceasefire in Gaza, including a long prisoner exchange and condemnation, according to well -informed sources of “Axios”. The mediators believe that recent Israeli concessions may open the door to a close agreement.
Details of the proposed deal
The initiative includes a 60 -day ceasefire, and the release of 10 Israeli prisoners and the wives of 18 others, in exchange for the release of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. The initiative also includes a significant increase in the volume of humanitarian aid allowed to enter Gaza.
Trump seeks a broader agreement
US President Donald Trump is seeking to exploit this truce period to reach a broader agreement that ends the war, and establishes a new regime in Gaza that does not include Hamas, according to “Axius”.
Concentration in positions between the two parties
During the 10 -day negotiations in Doha, Israel reduced its security demands. It agreed to reduce its military presence from the area of 5 km north of the Philadelphia Corridor to only 1.5 km, which is close to Hamas’s demand to withdraw to the limits of the previous ceasefire.
It also agreed to keep its forces at a depth of only 1 km on the rest of the border with Gaza. These concessions were considered a turning point in the conversations.
Exchange of prisoners and aid
