The Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers said that the telecommunications, information technology and electronics industry sector in Egypt witnessed a remarkable development, so that the higher growth sector between the state sectors becomes the growth rate of the telecommunications and information technology sector about 14.4% during the fiscal year 2024/2023, compared to about 8.4% during the 2014/2013 fiscal year, and the contribution of the telecommunications and information technology sector and the manufacture of electronics in the gross domestic product increased 5.8% during the fiscal year 2024/2023, compared to about 3% during the 2014/2013 fiscal year.
Ministers information: An increase in public investments in the communications and information technology sector by 45 times
The information of the ministers added, during the third issue of a series of awareness reports entitled the national strategy for artificial intelligence: public investments in the sector increased by 45 times, to reach 32.2 billion pounds during the fiscal year 2024/2023, compared to about 0.7 billion pounds during the 201/2013 fiscal year 2013. This reflects the acceleration of the role of the sector as a major engine for economic growth.
Recently, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, received Mr. Saleh bin Eid Al -Husaini, the Saudi ambassador to Egypt.
The meeting dealt with a discussion of opening new horizons for cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the fields of communications and information technology.
During the meeting; Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized the depth of relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the multiplicity of areas of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and information technology, including digital capacity building, support for innovation, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
