Shadi Zalta, spokesman for the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the new Egyptian baccalaureate system, which begins to be applied as of the next academic year, aims to alleviate the shoulders of students and their families, and provides more flexible academic opportunities, stressing that the ministry is committed to intensifying awareness campaigns during the coming period.
Zalta: The baccalaureate to relieve students and their families
Zalta said in television statements: The Egyptian baccalaureate system is an additional choice for parents and students, and the student will be granted the freedom to choose the system that suits him between traditional high school or a baccalaureate degree.
He explained that the new system includes a number of less materials, with a gradual specialty of second secondary school, and providing multiple exam opportunities: the student studies only 4 materials in the second grade and only 3 materials in the third secondary grade with an optional improvement exam for only 200 pounds, not 1000 as it was wrong.
The fact that there is a deficit in the secondary stage
Regarding fears of the deficit in the teachers, Zalta said: We have a sufficient number of teachers without any secondary deficit, and the study plan will be implemented smoothly.
In response to fears related to justice and equal opportunities with the presence of two parallel academic systems, Zalta explained: Justice is based on providing freedom of choice for students, so every student chooses the most appropriate way for him.
He stressed that the ministry will continue awareness campaigns through all official platforms and the media, noting that there are direct instructions from Minister Mohamed Abdel -Latif to respond to the inquiries of parents through the social media and the Ministry’s website, while organizing clarification meetings and conferences to simplify information.
Zalta concluded: Our goal is to eliminate the state of dread and anxiety that accompanied high school for years, and turning it into a natural educational experience, which opens wider doors for the future of students.
