A spokesman for the Israeli occupation army announced today, Wednesday, that a number of Israeli Druze were able to cross the border towards the Syrian territories through the Majdal Shams area in the Golan Heights, while the Israeli forces are working to return them to Israel safely.

Tensions on the border between Israel and Syria

In a simultaneous development, the Israeli army revealed that a mass infiltration attempt for dozens of people from Syrian territory to Israel through the town of Al -Khader, noted that its units are working to differentiate the gathering and prevent infiltration, according to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

Security sources reported that large crowds of the Druze community flocked to the border fence between the two sides, and tried to storm the main gate leading to Syria, which prompted the Israeli forces to use tear gas canisters to disperse them.

This escalation comes after calls by the leaders of the Druze community for a mass crowd with the aim of preparing to cross the borders and under allegations of what they described as the help of their slaughtered brothers in reference to the bloody clashes witnessed in the province of As -Suwayda in southern Syria between Druze fighters and forces loyal to the Syrian regime.

In the same context, Syrian media reported that Israel launched an air strike on a military convoy of the Syrian army west of the village of Al -Mujimar in the province of As -Suwayda, where the clashes are concentrated, and there have been yet reports of the losses caused by this attack.

The region is witnessing a serious escalation a few days ago, amid warnings of the situation sliding into an open confrontation in southern Syria, and an Israeli waving more military intervention to protect the Druze community on both sides of the border.
