Dr. Hussein Abdel Aziz, Advisor to the Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, confirmed that Egypt is one of the young countries, as young people represent the largest percentage of the population.
Statistics: 60% of Egypt’s population is less than 30 years old
Abdel Aziz said during televised statements that 60% of Egypt’s population is less than 30 years old, while the percentage of those under 15 years of age reaches 32% of the total population, which reflects a large human force capable of supporting future development.
Regarding the largest age groups, Abdel Aziz explained that the percentage of those over 60 years old does not exceed 5% of the total population currently, but it is a candidate for the increase to 15% by 2027, with the improvement of health care and an average life expectancy.
As for the percentage of males and females, the statistical consultant explained that males are still more than 106 males for every 100 female, which is a natural pattern due to high male birth rates.
Regarding what is circulating about the high rates of divorce and spinsterhood, Dr. Hussein Abdel Aziz denied these allegations, explaining that the year 2023 witnessed 960 thousand marriages, compared to 266 thousand divorce cases, noting that comparing divorce cases with marriage during the same year may give a wrong impression, as some divorce cases are due to marriages that took place for many years.
He stressed that the divorce cases that occur in the first year of marriage do not exceed 10%.
Abdel Aziz concluded his statements by emphasizing that the device is working according to an accurate scientific methodology, to monitor and clarify the population reality away from the rumors and impressions spread through social media.
