Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Ibrahim Daykli, announced the killing of ten firefighters and the injury of 14 others while trying to control a forest fire that broke out in the Sitagazi area of Eski Shahir region in central Turkey, according to Reuters.
In press statements, Al -Daylakli explained that the fire and rescue teams have faced great difficulties since the early morning hours of containing the fire, noting that 24 firefighters were trapped inside the fire when the wind suddenly changed their direction, which led to the stretch of the flame towards them.
He transferred all the injured to the hospital
The minister indicated that all the injured were transferred to the hospital, but unfortunately ten of them died of their injuries, while 14 are still receiving treatment.
In the same context, Al -Dayakli stressed that seven forest fires are still burning in five governorates in the center and west of the country, at a time when firefighting teams are working around the clock to control the situation and prevent the extension of fire to residential areas.
