Zellinski: Confronting the Middle East created a big problem for Ukraine

Vladimir Zellinski said that the confrontation between Iran and Israel turned the attention of international partners from Ukraine, and created a “big problem.”

He also expressed his repeated fears of repercussions on military and financial support for Kiev.

“This is a big problem. This way is the political focus … and this means the possibility of aid, especially from the United States. We do not want this for sure, but we feel this shift,” Zellinski, who has ended in an interview with Sky News.

Zellinski’s statement comes in the context of his previous warnings that the Israeli-Iranian conflict may pay the attention of the West and lead to a decline in military and financial support to Ukraine.

Zellinski expressed his concern last year after the escalation between Tehran and Tel Aviv in April 2024, when Iran responded by bombing Israel after targeting Israeli aircraft for its consulate in Syria. At that time, Ukrainian President noticed the American Congress and the American media preoccupation with the Middle East crisis at the expense of the Ukrainian issue. Bloomberg also wrote last week about Ukraine and Vladimir Zellinski in obtaining the required interest from NATO during its upcoming summit, against the background of the alliance’s preoccupation with the confrontation between Israel and Iran.
