The Yemeni leadership renewed its call to the international community, to take more strict positions regarding the escalating threat represented by the Iranian -backed Houthi group, stressing that the resumption of any political process depends on the demise of this threat, and the stability of the economic and living conditions in the country.
The Yemeni invitation came during separate meetings conducted by the presidential leadership member Aidarous Al -Zubaidi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shadi Al -Zindani, with the Chargé d’Affaires of the American Ambassador to Yemen, Jonathan Bachia, and the French ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Kormon Kamoun, dealt with political, economic and humanitarian developments in the country, and the military escalation practiced by the Houthi group on various fronts.
According to the official media, Al -Zubaidi stressed during his meeting with the French ambassador, that “a comprehensive peace cannot be achieved in light of the continued presence of” internationally classified militia, a terrorist organization “, which does not believe in peace, and represents a continuous threat to Yemen’s security, the region and international navigation,” referring to the Houthis.
He added that the attacks launched by the “Houthi militias” on oil export facilities in the governorates of Hadramout and Shabwa caused paralyzing the economic sector and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Al -Zubaidi stressed the importance of doubling international support for the Presidential Command Council and the Yemeni government, especially in the vital economic fields, especially the oil and gas sectors, calling for neutralizing vital installations from Houthi targeting, and securing them to ensure the resumption of export and the stability of the national economy.
The Yemeni official media quoted the French ambassador that it confirmed the position of Paris in support of the efforts to bring peace, and its country’s keenness to continue financing development and humanitarian projects, in partnership with the Yemeni government and international bodies, with its indication that the situation in Yemen requires a collective effort to alleviate the suffering.
The importance of American pressure
In a separate meeting, Al -Zubaidi discussed with the acting American Ambassador, Jonathan Bachia, the developments of the Yemeni scene, and the efforts made to support state institutions and alleviate the suffering of the population in the liberated areas.
The meeting also dealt with – according to the official media – the continuous Houthi military escalation, the mobilization operations on various fronts, and the grave violations practiced by the group against civilians, including killing, arrest and torture.
Al -Zubaidi said, “The success of the government in managing the liberated areas and normalizing the service and security conditions, represents an important step on the path of restoring the state, and it must be supported by the international community.”
The government agency “Saba” attributed to the American Chargé d’Affairs that he renewed Washington’s support for the Presidential Command Council and the Yemeni government, and stressed that his country is closely following the developments of the situation, and works with regional and international partners to advance the political process, and end the humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi war.
In the same context, the Yemeni Foreign Minister, Shadi Al -Zindani, valued, during his meeting with the American post, Washington recently imposed sanctions on individuals and entities linked to the funding of the Houthis, indicating that these measures constitute a practical step towards besieging Houthi terrorism and drying its funding sources.
Al -Zindani stressed the need for international pressure to continue to push the Houthis towards serious engagement in the path of peace, and to stop their repeated attacks that undermine calm opportunities, calling for strengthening bilateral coordination between the two countries in the security and economic fields.
The Yemeni official sources stated that the American official confirmed that his country is committed to holding accountable everyone who contributes to financing the Houthi group, or enabling it to commit more violations, in addition to its continents in enhancing its support for the Yemeni government, and making efforts to achieve a just and sustainable peace.
Houthi Captagon
On the other hand, the Houthi danger, Yemeni Minister of Information Muammar Al -Iryani spoke about the information showed by the security services in his country, related to the Iranian regime, through the Houthis, the establishment of a factory for the production of narcotic captagon pills in Al -Mahwit Governorate (northwest).
Al -Iryani said in a press statement, “What the security services revealed represents a new episode in the series of Iran’s use of drugs as a tool for financing its terrorist activities, after its networks in Syria were damaged after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime, as a major passage for the Captagon trade towards the Gulf.”
The Yemeni minister accused the Houthi group of seeking to transform its areas of control into an alternative starting point for drug smuggling towards Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and also accused it of turning some of the pharmaceutical factories in Sanaa into secret factories to produce the Captagon, describing this as a “complex crime that combines the exploitation of civil facilities and terrorist financing.”
Al -Iryani pointed out that the Yemeni security services seized large quantities of drugs that were on their way to Saudi Arabia through Houthi smuggling networks, which confirms the state’s ability to face “this dirty Iranian war” on Yemen and the region, as described.
The Yemeni minister affirmed that the danger of the Houthis was no longer limited to the rockets and drones; Rather, he reached systematic attempts to strike Gulf and Arab societies through drugs.
He called on the international community to “take a firm position that guarantees the drying sources of the Houthi financing, support the Yemeni government in extending its control over the entire lands of the country, and ending the continuous human suffering.”
