On the first visit of an Egyptian minister to the Philippines years ago, Dr. Osama Al -Azhari, Minister of Awqaf, began his visit to the Philippine capital, Manila, which takes 3 days, during which a large number of ministers and senior officials of the Philippine government meet.
The minister was received at Manila Airport by the Minister of Islamic Affairs in the Philippine government, Saboudin Abdel Rahim, and the Egyptian ambassador to the Philippines Nader Zaki, along with members of the Egyptian embassy and the Philippine Muslim Affairs Commission.
Immediately after his arrival, the Minister held a press conference at Manila Airport, in which he affirmed the strength of the close and historical relations that bring together Egypt and the Philippines, expressing his aspiration to work to consolidate bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in several fields and upgrade them to spacious horizons, foremost of which is Egypt’s effective participation in the positive experience provided by the Philippines in peaceful coexistence and acceptance of pluralism by enhancing the feeling of the Muslims of the Philippines With equal citizenship and rights.
Al -Azhari is the first Egyptian minister to visit the Philippines in years
Dr. Osama Al -Azhari explained the existence of great opportunities for cooperation that includes the dispatch of imams and preachers to work to support relations with the Muslims of the Philippines, and to organize training courses for judges in the areas of personal status laws in accordance with Islamic law, as well as help students benefit from the scholarships that Al -Azhar provides because of its good reputation and strong attractiveness among the Philippine Muslims.
For his part, the Philippine minister expressed his strong appreciation for the visit of the Minister of Awqaf, noting that the Muslims of the Philippines were aspiration for an increasing Egyptian role and to receive training and rehabilitation at the hands of the honorable Al -Azhar scholars with a moderate message and enlightened understanding of the true Islamic religion, expressing his great happiness to receive an invitation to visit Egypt in the coming period.
