The Wall Street Journal reported today, Sunday, quoting US officials that Washington informed Tehran that the strikes that targeted nuclear facilities in Iran “worked for one time”, and not the beginning of a war aimed at changing the regime.
The newspaper reported that the timing of the American strikes on Iran came with the aim of “creating an unexpected situation” before the deadline announced by Washington in advance to take a decision on the move.
The newspaper, based on well -informed sources and senior officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump, reported that on June 19, Washington had stated that it would take a decision within two weeks regarding the response to Iran, but the attack today was suddenly carried out against 3 nuclear facilities, Fordo, Nanz and Isfahan.
According to the sources, on June 17, Trump agreed to military plans during a meeting in the “Operations Room”, but he did not announce his final decision pending the evaluation of Tehran’s response to pressure.
The sources added that Trump held a special meeting yesterday in New Jersey, during which he gave direct orders to carry out the attack “within hours”, in a move intended to make a surprise that no one expects.
The officials confirmed that the US administration informed Tehran that the strikes were “one time work”, and not the beginning of a war aimed at changing the system.
The newspaper reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed Trump, during a connection on June 9, the structure of Tel Aviv launched an attack on Iran.
According to the information, Trump asked “to give diplomacy an additional opportunity”, before the two parties made a new call after 3 days, during which Netanyahu confirmed that “Israel is determined to carry out strikes as soon as possible.”
The newspaper quoted the sources that Trump informed Netanyahu at the time that “Washington will not hinder the process, but it will also not support it.”
In the aftermath of the strikes, Trump made a phone call to Bentianho, who expressed “great gratitude” of the American step, according to the newspaper.
