Turkish media revealed, on Tuesday, that Israeli fighters penetrated the Turkish airspace on the first day of the widespread Israeli attack on Iran, on Friday, before they were intercepted by Turkish Air Force planes and forced them to withdraw.
The Yeni Shafak newspaper reported that Turkish F-16 fighters took off immediately after monitoring the airspace, as they made warnings of Israeli fighters who left Turkish airspace without any clash.
The newspaper confirmed that Ankara put military units on alert after the accident, in anticipation of any possible threats, in light of the increasing regional escalation.
In additional details, Turkish writer Yahya Bustan said that the Turkish radar systems initially monitored the movement of Israeli aircraft over the Syrian airspace, as more than 12 Israeli fighters entered the Syrian airspace and returned.
According to Bustan, Turkish early warning aircraft later monitored the entry of two new groups of Israeli fighters, the Syrian airspace, so that the Turkish forces remain in a permanent alert to prevent any possible violation of the country’s atmosphere.
He pointed out that the early warning systems and Turkish radars are working continuously, while Turkish F-16 fighters continued their willingness to respond to any new breach.
