Al -Malab newspaper – The Asian Football Confederation announced, on Friday, that the Asian Women’s Cup qualifiers scheduled for next week in Jordan were transferred to Qatar at a later time, given the current situation in the Middle East.

The Asian Football Confederation, based in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, said that the qualifying matches in the first group, which were scheduled between June 23 and the fifth of July in the capital, Amman, were transferred to Qatar, and will now be held between the seventh and 19 July.

He added in a statement: “More details will be confirmed about the location and dates of the matches in a timely manner.”

The Singaporean Football Association said in another statement that the postponement of matches and the change of the host country came because of the “current situation in the region and the logistical concerns raised by” the participating teams.

Singapore was scheduled to compete in Amman against the host Jordan, Iran, Lebanon and Bhutan in the first group of eight groups in the AFC Asian Cup 2026 Preparatory League, to be held next March in Australia.

The leaders of the eight qualifiers qualify for the finals to catch up with Australia, South Korea, Japan, and China, the title holder.

Tensions escalated in the region after Israel and Iran intensified their air strikes against each other, which threatens the interference of the United States in the conflict.
