The Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed during the past months a series of unfortunate traffic accidents, which led to a number of severe deaths and injuries, at a time when official statistics indicate the high rates of accidents related to speed and neglect, which raises the alarm about road safety.
The Ministry of Interior, through its official account in the “X” application, recorded a number of serious incidents during the months of April and May, in addition to the first days of June, when bloody incidents occurred on major roads in the country, the most prominent of which was the horrific traffic accident in the Saar region, which killed a Bahraini citizen and his wife, and led to the injury of their three children.
The General Traffic Department explained that the main reason behind the accident is high speed, lack of attention and neglect, which is repeated in a large number of incidents that are recorded periodically.
In another accident, a 29 -year -old Bahraini young man was seriously injured, after he was driving his vehicle against the direction of walking on Sheikh Isa bin Salman Street, towards the King Fahd Bridge, which led to his collision with several vehicles, and resulted in multiple injuries between the drivers and accompanying.
The concerned authorities have started investigations and field procedures as soon as the accident occurred.
Another death of a 29 -year -old Bahraini young man was recorded after the accident of his vehicle on Sheikh Issa bin Salman Street near the Tubli area, which is added to a series of repeated incidents in the same street, which is a vital and crowded road.
The statistics of the Ministry of Interior published on its website indicated that January 2025 witnessed a traffic death rate of 11%, while the severe injuries in that month were at 47%, and minor injuries amounted to 42%.
In February, the death rate decreased to 5%, while the percentage of severe injuries increased to 55%, and minor injuries recorded 40%.
In March, the death rate was 9%, while the severe injuries constituted the highest percentage by 58%, while minor injuries recorded a relatively decrease to 33%.
During April, the death rate returned to 11%, while severe injuries reached 51%, and minor injuries 38%.
These numbers indicate the continuing challenges related to road safety, amid repeated demands to tighten traffic control and increase awareness campaigns for drivers, especially with regard to excessive speed, transgression of signals, and lack of adherence to traffic lines.
