6 teams included their seats in the Asian Attaché qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in 3 countries for the first time historically, the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
Asian attaché teams
Among the qualified teams are 5 Arab teams, where the Emirates and Qatar teams included their seats in the attachment, after they occupied the third and fourth places in the first group with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Iraq qualified from the second group, and with it the Omani team after a marathonian tie with its Palestinian brother in the last round.
After its occupation of third place in the third group, with the Indonesian team, the only non -Arab team that qualified for the annex.
The date of the Asian Attaché lottery
The draw for the supplement will be held on July 17, in order to determine the matches of the Asian Attaché, which will be played next October.
A final opportunity to qualify for the World Cup
The fourth decisive stage of the qualifiers, known as the “Asian Attaché”, is the last chance for Asia’s teams to achieve the dream of qualifying for the World Cup. This stage is considered a crossroads, as there is no room for errors, and each team will do the best to secure the last qualification card.
In parallel with the FIFA decision to raise the number of teams participating in the World Cup to 48 teams instead of 32, the Asian continent obtained a historic privilege by obtaining 8 direct seats instead of 4.5 as it was in practice in the previous copies. With this expansion, the aspirations of the Asian teams increased, as they can compete for an additional seat through the continental supplement, bringing the total chances of qualification to 9.
The way to compete in the Asian attachment
The six teams will be divided into two groups, each playing the league system from one round (each team is playing only two games).
The leader of each group qualifies directly to the 2026 World Cup, while the summer of the two groups is playing a decisive match, in which the winner qualifies for the continental attachment (the fifth floor).
In this last role, the qualified from Asia faces one of the representatives of other continents such as CONCACAF, CONMIPOL or Oceanus, to win the remaining global seat.
