Ali bin Saleh Al -Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, expressed great pride and pride in electing the Kingdom of Bahrain to membership of the Executive Council of the United Nations Women for the period (2026-2028), stressing that this global achievement reflects the Kingdom’s influencing international presence in supporting and empowering women’s issues, and the product of the vision and approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country. The first for Bahraini women, in a way that enhances the Kingdom’s progress and leadership in all fields, and with the support and follow -up of the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him.
He praised the pioneering efforts led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the country of the country, the head of the Supreme Council for Women, which contributed to the consolidation of an advanced national experience in the field of empowering and ensuring their progress, and highlighting her active role as a major partner in development.
Al -Saleh praised the prominent roles played by gender balance committees in various state institutions, in line with the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women prepared by the Supreme Council for Women, and the qualitative initiatives undertaken by these committees to enhance equality and equal opportunities, stressing that these efforts constitute a pivotal part of the comprehensive national action system, and contribute to achieving strategic goals to empower women at the levels Local and international, and achieve sustainable development goals.
He explained that the election of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the second time for membership of the Executive Council of the United Nations Women, after its previous membership during the period (2017-2019) confirms its position among the leading countries in this field, and is an international recognition of the distinction of the Bahraini model in supporting women and the continuity of their empowerment, and reflects the size of the international appreciation of the policies and initiatives implemented by the Kingdom through the Supreme Council for Women, including the launch of the third edition of the Princess Bint Ibrahim Al Ibrahim Award Khalifa Al -Alamia Women’s Empowerment, which is an advanced model in the partnership between Bahrain and the United Nations system.
The Chairman of the Shura Council affirmed that the Council continues its legislative efforts to support the principles of gender balance, and to ensure effective and balanced participation of Bahraini women in all areas of national action.
