The Public Prosecutor of “Al -Watan”: We prepare a draft law on the governance of artificial intelligence

The Attorney General, d. Ali Al -Buainain, for Al -Watan on the existence of efforts by the Public Prosecution and a number of ministries and competent authorities to prepare a draft law on regulating artificial intelligence in Bahrain.

This came in a statement to “Al -Watan” on the sidelines of the criminal forum, which was held under the title “Criminal Justice and the Challenges of the Times”, under the auspices of the Attorney General, and in the presence of a group of specialists and experts in the legal field.

With regard to the bill for artificial intelligence governance, Al -Buainain said: “The Public Prosecution works in cooperation and coordination with a number of official authorities to prepare a draft law to regulate artificial intelligence.”

He indicated that the draft, after completing its preparation, will pass the usual legal procedures, and will be presented to partners from governmental and non -governmental agencies to review and discuss them, in preparation for its approval in its final form.

Al -Buainain explained that the forum discusses contemporary issues related to criminal justice, the most prominent of which are governance, artificial intelligence, computing, and other emerging technical challenges, stressing the need for thinking outside the traditional frameworks, avoiding classical solutions, adopting alternatives characterized by speed and discipline, and takes into account human rights.

He pointed out that the forum is an effective platform for raising these issues and reviewing distinguished working papers, which are expected to provide practical solutions, in line with the developments we are witnessing in all legal fields.

In his opening speech, he explained that over the past years, the Public Prosecution has conducted a series of updates on its structure, through the establishment of prosecutions specialized in the types of crimes that are dangerous.

He said, “The specialized offices were also established to implement the procedures in the laws developed in the areas of reconciliation justice, family and child issues, and to protect the victims and witnesses.”

He explained that criminal justice has sources for which they are left, and specialized and professional paths that support each other, but from time to time needs to be subject to these sources, and these paths to in -depth social and legal studies.

Al -Buainain stressed that Bahrain, based on the supreme vision, is permanently and continuously keen on developing criminal policy within its serious endeavors to ensure the undermining of crime and limiting its effects and to enhance human rights in all fields, noting that everyone in various specializations is required to participate in such studies in various methods, and the effective contribution to highlighting the needs and justifications calling for strengthening the criminal justice system legislative Founded.

The Public Prosecutor stated that the Public Prosecution has contributions to issuing and updating many important laws in the field of crime control and promoting human rights, including the Penal Code and alternative measures, and the reformist justice law for children and protecting them from ill -treatment.

The Criminal Procedure Law has also been created from the rules of reconciliation and reconciliation, the protection of the victims and witnesses, and the authorization of the use of electronic means in criminal procedures, as well as the amendments to the law of banning and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
