Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, announced the postponement of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum due to the ongoing events in the region, where Egypt was preparing to open the Grand Egyptian Museum officially on July 3, in a global celebration that is the largest in the history of exhibitions and archaeological museums.
The opening date of the Grand Egyptian Museum after the new postponement
In an official statement, the Ministry of Tourism clarified the new date for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, as it will be opened during the last quarter of this year, provided that the appointment will be announced specifically in time, after coordination with all the concerned authorities to ensure the organization of an event worthy of Egypt’s tourism and cultural status on the international scene.
The Ministry of Tourism also announced that the Grand Egyptian Museum will continue to receive its visitors in light of the experimental opening of it until the new date of the official opening during the last quarter of this year, explaining that this decision comes from the national responsibility of the Egyptian state, and its keenness to present an extraordinary global event in an atmosphere worthy of the greatness of the Egyptian civilization and its unique heritage, and in a way that ensures broad international participation that keeps pace with the importance of the event.
The Grand Egyptian Museum
It is noteworthy that the Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest archaeological museum dedicated to one civilization in the world, and it includes more than 100,000 rare artifacts, including the full set of King Tutankhamun, which is presented for the first time completely in one place, including his famous golden mask, his funerary bed, and his military vehicles.
