Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, headed today, Monday, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Grand Egyptian Museum, at the museum headquarters in the shooting field in Giza.
And the initiation of the meeting by informing the members of the Council with some developments and decisions recently witnessed by the museum, and the minutes of the previous meeting of the council were ratified.
The meeting witnessed the latest developments in the executive position of the museum project and business related to the opening ceremony equipment, and the completion and receipt of the King Khufu boats and the caves in the main halls and raised the efficiency of the restoration center, and operational and security systems are being operated and delivered, and the developments of the organizational regulations of the museum were reviewed and discussed.
During the meeting, the developments and indicators of the experimental operation that the museum are currently witnessing, by reviewing the numbers of visitors from Egyptians and foreigners, their ages and their most prominent nationalities, the size of the indicative tours that took place, and the numbers of electronic reservation against traditional reservation methods.
The meeting touched on the museum’s message and vision, as it was agreed to form a working group that puts a proposal for them and presented them to the council to discuss them at its next meeting.
The council was also briefed on the developments of specialized services at the Museum’s Antiquities Center and Reconstruction Center in the field of preserving cultural heritage, which include restoration, maintenance, documentation, packaging, and the transfer of cultural and technical holdings for the benefit of governmental and non -governmental agencies, and the organization of training programs in the areas of restoration and maintenance of antiquities and museum sciences.
The importance of prior coordination was discussed regarding the timing and days of school trips visits to the museum, and that this is done in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
It should be noted that the Grand Egyptian Museum continues to receive its visitors in the light of the experimental operation of the main halls in it, until the new date of the official opening and scheduled for it during the last quarter of this year.
