The Minister of Sustainable Development participates in the work of the Fourth International Conference on Financing Development in Seville

Mrs. Nour Bint Ali Al -Khalif, Minister of Sustainable Development, CEO of the Economic Development Council, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Development Finance (FFD4) of the United Nations and held in the city of Seville in the Kingdom of Spain during the period from June 30 to July 3, 2025.

In its fourth session, the conference is an exceptional opportunity and a multilateral international platform that brings together heads of state, governments, international organizations, financial experts and representatives of the private sector to formulate effective international strategies to finance sustainable development and contribute to supporting the reform of the international financial structure, and to address the financing challenges that hinder the implementation of the necessary and urgent investments to accelerate the pace of achieving sustainable development goals.

The conference was inaugurated by His Majesty King Felipe VI, King of the Kingdom of Spain, in an opening speech in which he stressed the importance of strengthening team of multilateral work to establish flexible financing systems that meet the changing development needs, and this came in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Leticia, the Queen of the Kingdom of Spain. His Excellency Mr. Pedro Sanchez Perez Castikon, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, was also elected head of the conference, who stressed in his speech that development financing represents a basic pillar to push international efforts towards achieving sustainable development goals.

The conference was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, His Excellency Mr. Filimon Yang, President of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency Mr. Bob Ray, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Mr. Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group, and Dr. Nguzi Okunjo-Yala, Director General of the World Trade Organization, where they stressed in their overall words the importance of international efforts to address financing challenges Comears and debt crises facing developing countries, and pushing a comprehensive reform of the international economic system in a manner that guarantees justice, inclusion and sustainability.

During the session, the closing document entitled “Seville’s commitment” to consensus as an international guide to the financing policies supporting sustainable development, which defines a renewed global framework for financing sustainable development with a focus on non -financial aspects such as tax cooperation and debt solutions.

The participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this international conference comes as an affirmation of its steadfast commitment to achieving sustainable development, and based on its active role in supporting efforts to enhance the mechanisms for financing development by investing in the financial sector and stimulating innovation and consolidating global partnerships in a way that contributes to building a bright future for future generations.
