The leader of the Israeli opposition, Yair Lapid, criticized the invitation of US President Donald Trump to cancel the trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, considering that he interfered in Israel’s legal measures.
“With all respect for Trump, but he is not supposed to interfere in a legal process in an independent country,” Lapid said in an interview with Wint.
“I assume that this is a compensation he provides to him, because he will pressure him in the Gaza case to end the war. This is commensurate with Trump’s style.”

The American president expressed his shock from Netanyahu’s summons to the court, despite the championships he presented to Israel, in particular against Iran, as he put it.
The US President said that the United States saved Israel, and it is the same one who would save its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In unprecedented support, Trump demanded the cancellation of the Israeli Prime Minister’s trial.
The US President stated in a post on his platform “Truth Social” that “such a campaign of foolishness on a man who made a lot of incredible is for me,” he said.
He added, “The Bibi Netanyahu’s trial must be canceled immediately, or a pardon was given to a great hero, who presented a lot to the State of Israel,” he said.
Netanyahu concern
In the context of Netanyahu’s trial, the Israeli Prime Minister faces accusations of bribery and fraud and violating confidence in 3 separate cases, known as issues 1000, 2000 and 4000.
One of the accusations files, along with members of his family, relates to valuable gifts from wealthy businessmen, in exchange for providing facilities and assistance to them.
In another file, it is also accused of negotiating with Arnon Moses, the publisher of the Israeli private newspaper “Yediot Aharonot”, to obtain positive media coverage.
As for the third accusation file, it relates to providing facilities to the former owner of the Israeli news site “Walla”, Shaul Elovic, who was also an official at the “Bezak Communications Company”, in exchange for positive media coverage.
These issues led to years of political turmoil in Israel, difficult to form a stable majority in the Knesset, and resulted in 5 elections in less than 4 years.
