The World Health Organization has announced the delivery of the first shipment of medical assistance to the Gaza Strip since March, in a move described as insufficient given the growing human needs in the besieged sector, according to media reports.
The general manager of the organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanum Jibrissus, said in a post on the X platform, that the shipment consists of nine trucks loaded with basic medical supplies, along with 2000 blood units and 1500 plasma units.
Jibrissus explained that the aid will be distributed to priority hospitals in Gaza during the next few days, noting that this shipment represents a drop in the vicinity compared to the urgent medical support that the population needs.
The rise of the martyrs in the Gaza Strip to 56,259
In a related context, Palestinian medical sources announced that the death toll in the Gaza Strip increased to 56,259, the majority of whom are children and women, since the aggression of the Israeli occupation began on October 7, 2023.
The sources added that the outcome of the injuries has risen to 132,458, since the aggression began, while a number of victims are still under the rubble, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.
