The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced the raising of the final round of the Bahrain Summer 3X3 basketball championship from the “Lite Quest” level to “Quest”, giving the winning team a direct seat to participate in one of the prestigious global “Fiba World Tour” rounds.
This step expresses the international appreciation of the efforts made by the Bahrain Basketball Federation in developing the 3 x3 game and spreading its culture at the local level, reflecting the growing commitment to apply the highest regulatory and technical standards.
This international promotion also comes as a culmination of the unlimited support and ambitious vision led by His Highness Sheikh Issa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice -President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, towards the advancement of 3×3 sport in the Kingdom, which has become a matter of praise and appreciation by the International Federation, due to its direct impact in enhancing Bahrain’s position on the game map globally.
This qualitative shift in the championship classification is a joint station that gives Bahraini players a golden opportunity to represent the Kingdom on the highest competition platforms in this rapidly growing sport, which has become part of the Olympic Games.
In the context of this qualitative shift, the Bahrain Basketball Federation recently launched an official slogan for the 3×3 game, to serve as an independent visual identity for this sport within the activities of the Federation.
The launch of this slogan comes as part of a comprehensive development plan aimed at enhancing the position of the game locally, and building a mass and competitive base in line with international standards.
In this context, Mr. Ahmed Hafez, Secretary -General of the Bahrain Basketball Federation, said that “the upgrading of the final round to the category (Quest) represents a global certificate for the professionalism of the work provided by the Federation, and the full commitment of Bahrain to keep pace with the developments of the 3×3 game globally.”
He added: “We consider this step the beginning of a long path towards strengthening the Kingdom’s representation in the major championships, and we are working to create the appropriate environment for Bahraini players in order to compete in international competitions with confidence and efficiency.”
Hafez reiterated his call to the teams wishing to participate in the Bahrain Open Summer Tour to accelerate the registration before the deadline at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, through the link available on Al -Ittihad platforms on social media, *knowing that the tournament is limited to only Bahraini players over the age of 16.
It is required to qualify for the final round “Quest” that the team will take at least 3 rounds during the tournament, while the first and second places of each round qualify for the final stage, taking into account the transfer of the qualification card to the next team in the event of the repeated winners.
Among the qualified teams (12 teams), only one team will win the historic transit card to the global round, which gives Bahraini players a real opportunity to enter the elite circle globally.
The first version of the Bahrain Open 3X3 Championship comes within the Federation’s strategy to enhance the presence of the game locally, and to provide competitive paths that lead towards external professionalism, at a time when 3×3 is witnessing an accelerated global spread and a growing position within the agenda of the International Federation and the International Olympic Committee.
