The goals of the sewage system expansion project in Fayoum Governorate
During the inspection tour, Eng. Safwat Khaled, director of the consultant team, reviewed the components and objectives of the sewage system expansion project in Fayoum Governorate, explaining that the project aims to develop and implement the integrated sanitation infrastructure within a number of regions, including increasing service levels through the implementation of 18 contracts through this program, pointing out that these contracts include designs and supervision of the implementation of sewage networks and expulsion lines The lifting stations covering the needs of 48 villages, as well as the implementation of 8 sewage treatment plants with advanced technology that treats more than 110 thousand cubic meters of wastewater daily, which will improve social conditions and environmental protection, and contribute to the rehabilitation of Lake Qarun as a strategic goal.
He added that the scope of business in the first stage includes the extension of sewage networks with lengths of about 426.4 km, the creation of approximately 103.3 km from the expulsion lines, the construction of about 47 new lifting stations, the purchase of 28 cars such as a survey and operating equipment and maintenance, and the establishment of 8 plants with a total capacity of 110 thousand cubic meters / day, and it is expected to finish all contracts for the first stage at varying periods ending at the end of 2026, The completion rate to date reached 42%, while the scope of business in the second stage includes: the establishment of 4 treatment plants that serve more villages within the governorate, where it is planned to start work at this stage starting in the month of July, where design works begins and preparing brochures of conditions, specifications and subtraction, and it is expected to complete the implementation of the work of the second stage by the end of 2028, and the program provides the service for approximately one million people from the citizens of the province.
In his speech, the Governor of Fayoum welcomed the head of the European Union delegation to Egypt, and the accompanying delegation from the ambassadors, on the land of Fayoum Governorate, expressing his deep thanks and appreciation to the European Union for its continuous support for the Egyptian society, by financing the implementation of many service and development projects that benefit and benefit citizens in various governorates, and contribute to improving their standard of living.
Al -Ansari stressed the importance of the sewage treatment plant in the village of Abu Janshu, and its important role in treating wastewater in a number of villages of the Abshway Center, appreciating the efforts of the European Union in implementing a number of projects on the province’s land, which are related to modern agricultural mechanization, sanitation, modern irrigation mechanisms, the development of Lake Qarun, industrial development, and the role of European banks in supporting and financing these projects.
During his speech, the Governor of Fayoum pointed out to the projects covered by the first stage of the presidential initiative “a decent life” that is being implemented in the central villages of Etisa and Youssef Al -Siddiq, as well as the projects of the European program that we are dealing with today, which is implemented in a number of villages of the province, confirming the keenness and interest of drinking water and sanitation projects, and its constant endeavor to cover all the villages and singles and hamlets with sanitation services, the matter Which directly contributes to the preservation of Lake Qarun from pollution.
While the head of the European Union delegation in Egypt expressed her happiness to visit Fayoum, and thanked the Governor of Fayoum and all the executive bodies in the governorate, for the warm reception and hospitality, praising constructive and fruitful cooperation between the European Union delegation and Fayoum Governorate, in implementing many projects in the environmental sectors, reducing pollution, agricultural mechanization, modern irrigation, tourism development, the development of Lake Qarun, and confrontation Climate changes, water management, and other files of common concern.

After that, the delegation visited the Qualiti Pak factory to extract the volatile solvents in the atmosphere and reuse them in printing, located on an area of 20 thousand square meters, with a design production capacity from 1000 to 1200 tons per month, and the current actual production capacity is 500 tons per month, and the factory provides 250 jobs, and one of the production lines that will provide additional job opportunities will be developed for a number of 25 to 30 opportunities.
