Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 49th Exceptional Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to discuss the Iranian missile attacks that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar, which was held today in the Qatari capital, Doha, headed by Mr. Abdullah Ali Al -Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, and the participation of His Highness and Foreign Ministers in the GCC states, Al -Badawi, Secretary -General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
The ministerial council meeting was issued in which the Ministerial Council expressed its great regret and its strong condemnation of the missile attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran targeting one of the military bases in the State of Qatar, which represents an explicit, rejected and dangerous Iranian violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its air field and the principles of good neighborhood, and a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, whatever the excuses and justifications. The Council expressed its full solidarity with the State of Qatar and its full support for it in its measures that take security and stability.
The Ministerial Council praised the capabilities of the Qatari armed forces in confronting the attack that Iran launched against the State of Qatar, stressing that the security and stability of the State of Qatar is an integral part of the security and stability of all the countries of the Cooperation Council, and that any threat to any member state is a direct threat to all the countries of the Council, again its categorical rejection of any prejudice to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar or the threat of its security and stability.
The Ministerial Council welcomed the announcement of His Excellency President Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, regarding the ceasefire, stressing the need for immediate stopping of all military actions, praising the efforts of the State of Qatar to mediate and cease fire, to maintain the security and stability of the region, and all parties made joint efforts to seize the ceasefire to calm down and take diplomatic approach as an effective way to settle disputes.
The Ministerial Council praised the success of President Donald Trump in achieving a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, and calls on his Excellency to make efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The Ministerial Council praised the role of the Sultanate of Oman in the US -Iranian negotiations on the nuclear file, and the Council appreciated the role of the State of Qatar, the United States and other countries that contributed to calm, and emphasizing the importance of continuing active mediation efforts.
The Ministerial Council stressed the importance of preserving air and maritime security and waterways in the region, and to address the activities that threaten the security and stability of the region and the world.
The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain included the meeting, Ambassador Mohammed bin Ali Al -Ghattam, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the State of Qatar, Ambassador Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations, and Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al -Haidan, Head of Legal Affairs Sector, Acting Head of the Cooperation Council Affairs, and the accompanying delegation.
