Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Head of Customs, participated in a discussion session on the data -based approach in dealing with e -commerce in the customs departments, on the sidelines of the World Customs Council meetings held in the Belgian capital Brussels during the period from 23 to 28 June 2025.
The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the meetings of the Policy Committee was chaired by its ninety -second session, and sessions No. (145 and 146) to the Council of the World Customs Organization, where during the discussion session, views between speakers and member states were exchanged on ways to face challenges related to postal trafficking and data quality, in addition to emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation between customs departments and related sectors to ensure the flow of electronic commerce.
The meetings also discussed a number of vital issues for the international customs community, foremost of which is the customs value and capacity building, with the aim of developing customs performance and enhancing the ability of customs departments to match the rapid technical developments.
It is worth noting that during the meetings, a package of important tools was approved within the framework of the World Customs Organization, which aims to raise the efficiency of customs work, including the e -commerce package and the tools for evaluating the SAFE standards for customs security.
