The Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Authority discusses with his Mozambician counterpart to facilitate the procedures for registration and drug inspection

Dr. Ali Al -Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, held an official meeting with Dr. Tania Cito, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for the Regulatory of Medicines and Health Products in the Republic of Mozambique, as part of the activities of the fourth edition of the African Medical Exhibition and Conference.

The meeting comes within the series of bilateral meetings that aim to enhance African partnerships in the field of organizing and circulating medicines, and expanding the channels of technical and commercial coordination between the counterparts in the continent, in line with Egypt’s vision to deepen regional cooperation in the health sector.

The meeting is a practical step towards activating the mechanisms of joint cooperation between the two sides, by working to harmonize the pharmaceutical policies, facilitating the procedures for registration and joint inspection, and providing technical and training support in the areas of drug control and institutional organization, which enhances the ability of the two sides to face health challenges, and achieve regional integration in the manufacture and circulation of the drug.

During the meeting, possible aspects of cooperation were discussed between the two institutions, especially in the development of the system of registration and circulation of medicines, and the support of the export of Egyptian drugs to the Mozambician market, in order to enhance the availability of high quality drugs, and achieve technical and commercial integration between the two parties.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al -Ghamrawi welcomed Dr. Seto, stressing Egypt’s keenness to expand its organizational partnerships inside Africa, stressing the importance of joint work in the areas of capacity building and exchanging experiences, as well as supporting the arrival of Egyptian drugs to African markets, in light of Egypt’s technical and regional capabilities recognized regionally and internationally.

For its part, Dr. Tania Seto praised the remarkable development achieved by the Egyptian Drug Authority, and expressed her country’s aspiration to build a sustainable partnership with Egypt based on exchanging knowledge and experiences and developing pharmaceutical policies, as well as establishing an institutional framework that regulates various areas of cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, Dr. Amani Jawdat, the associate of the commission and the supervisor of the Candidate Administration of the Senate of the Highness, Dr. Osama Hatem, the head of the head of the Authority for Policies and International Cooperation and the supervisor of the Central Administration for Drug Policy and Markets Support, and Dr. and Wadiane Younis, head of the Central Administration for Drug Control.

The meeting reflects Egypt’s continuous commitment to supporting health and pharmaceutical cooperation efforts within the African continent, by transferring organizational knowledge, and expanding technical and commercial exchange, in a way that contributes to the stability of the drug market in Africa, and serves the goals of drug security and sustainable development in the health sector.
