The Egyptian Tax Experts Association said that tax facilities contribute to the development of wooden industries, as this sector includes 120 thousand establishments approximately 80% of them outside the official system.

The tax accountant Ashraf Abdel -Ghani, founder of the Egyptian Tax Experts, added that wooden industries, furniture and furniture are ancient industries in Egypt, and they are the third largest industrial sectors in terms of the number of facilities and the percentage of employment, as well as investments exceeding 50 billion pounds and this sector contributes 2.2% of the gross domestic product.
He explained that the most prominent problems of the sector increased the prices of imported raw materials, as the prices of wood increased by more than 50%, in addition to the presence of problems in supply chains after the Russian -Ukrainian war, as Russia controls 25% of Egypt’s imports of wood, noting that the percentage of the local component in the wooden industries does not exceed 40%, while the localization of the production supplies industry such as cloth, sponge and pins provides 40% of production costs.
He pointed out that taxes on imported raw materials, especially wood, raise costs, and reduce competition opportunities in global markets.
He called for providing more tax and investment incentives for the development of the sector and increasing exports, and attracting local and foreign investments by taking advantage of the relative features of Egyptian furniture and its good reputation, stressing that converting Egypt into a regional center for the furniture industry requires the establishment of logistical centers and stores to market and store Egyptian products in the targeted markets, in addition to supporting subscription in international exhibitions and organization Promotional missions to open new markets for Egyptian furniture exports, especially in Africa.
He called for the establishment of training centers to provide skilled technical workers in this sector, which depends on the inheritance of the profession, in addition to introducing modern means of production and encouraging innovation.
