The Syrian TV channel “Syria TV”, quoting sources, reported that the Syrian President, Ahmed Al -Shara, will visit the United States in September.
According to the sources, Sharia intends during the visit, among other things, to deliver a speech at the United Nations meeting. The TV channel indicated that this will be “the first speech of the Syrian president in the international organization in 60 years.”
It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump held talks with Ahmed Al -Shara in Riyadh on May 14, and that was the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries in 25 years.
The American President announced that his country will begin the lifting of the sanctions imposed on Damascus for decades during the rule of Hafez al -Assad and his son Bashar al -Assad.
After that, the US Treasury issued a general license, which officially allows the implementation of previously prohibited operations related to Syria.
Thus, the sanctions were lifted from the “Syrian Aviation” company, the “oil oil” company, the Syrian Central Bank, several oil and gas companies, and other bodies.
According to “Reuters”, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also signed a document suspending the sanctions imposed on Syria for 180 days to ensure the restoration of stability in the country.
