Dr. Ali Al -Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, witnessed the signing ceremony of the eight organizational understanding memorandum of organizational accreditation that combined pharmaceutical bodies in: Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Senegal, which are African pharmaceutical bodies recognized by the World Health Organization within the third level of organizational maturity (ML3), during the activities of the African Medical Conference, with participation High -level international and regional.

This step comes within the framework of the organizational alignment initiative of African Medicines (AMRH) of the AUDA-Nepad, which aims to support mutual organizational accreditation, facilitate the enforcement of safe and effective drugs, and unify registration procedures to serve health security goals in the African continent.
In his speech during the signing ceremony, Al -Ghamrawi stressed that the signing of this memo reflects a mutual institutional commitment to build an integrated African model in the organizational field, noting that this consensus embodies a collective will to enhance organizational and pharmaceutical sovereignty in Africa, and confirms our ability to develop regulatory mechanisms based on partnership, equal, and mutual accreditation.
For her part, Mrs. Shamewiui Chamdimba, head of the organizational alignment program for African drugs, expressed her appreciation for this institutional move, stressing that this agreement represents the beginning of a new stage of organizational integration in the continent, and enhances the ability of African bodies to build efficient and independent health systems that stem from our reality and meet the aspirations of our peoples.
Dr. Abbabi Jenito Baye, coordinator of the manufacturing platform for African health products (PHHM) of the Africa CDC Center, also welcomed a warm welcome with Egypt’s participation in addition to the other seven national organizational bodies in signing the Memorandum of Understanding, and emphasized the pivotal role of the memorandum of understanding in strengthening the agenda of the Disease Control and Prevention Center in Africa (Africa CDC) For local manufacturing for health products, stressing that its effective implementation is a maximum priority to advance the work wheel, and also affirmed the support of the Full African Disease and Prevention Center for the Memorandum of Understanding, and its commitment to close cooperation with the eight national organizational bodies to ensure the safety and effectiveness of health products manufactured throughout the continent.
International partners, including the Gates Foundation, praised the Egyptian pivotal role in promoting pharmaceutical governance and developing the organizational structure at the continental level.
This understanding reflects a qualitative shift in the level of coordination between African bodies, as it includes organizational institutions that have reached the highest levels of maturity according to the World Health Organization classification, which enhances the credibility of African cooperation and opens the way for building a unified drug system based on confidence and mutual accreditation.
Participated in the signing ceremony of a group of prominent personalities, among them: Mrs. Shamewi Chamdimba, head of Amrh program at the New Partnership Agency for Africa Development (Nepad), Mr. Abbabi Baye, coordinator of the manufacturing platform for African health products (PHAHM) with Africa CDC, Professor Mouji Ediaie, Director General of the Food and Drug Administration in Nigeria, Dr. Richard Roccata, Director General of the Pharmaceutical Authority Bzimbabwe, in addition to a number of leaders of Egyptian pharmaceutical industries and representatives of the major national and regional companies.
This pioneering memorandum of understanding is among the national organizational bodies that the World Health Organization adopts the third maturity level, an important step towards achieving sovereign health integration in Africa. It indicates the institutional progress of the continent, and it is established a common basis for a unified drug market, a market that is able to face the main health challenges effectively, reduce dependence on external sources, and enhance the ability of African countries to organize and provide high -quality and effective medical products.
It also demonstrates the position of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority as a major pillar in leading the regional pharmaceutical scene, by adopting smart and stimulating organizational models for innovation. This understanding also embodies a clear message that Egypt leads the path of African organizational integration with confidence and efficiency, which enhances its position in supporting continental medicinal policies based on sovereignty and sustainability, and confirms the confidence of the international community in the ability of African bodies to build systems Independent and effective.
