The team, the engineer of Kamel Al -Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, witnessed the signing of the contract of building two new ships of the Kamsarmax giant ships from the National Navigation Company, one of the companies affiliated with the Ministry of Transport and the Chinese Hunting Arsenal.
The contract was signed by all Muhammad Suleiman Metwally, the managing director of the National Navigation Company, and MR. MENG Chengjun, Chairman of the Chinese Hunting Arsenal Board.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, stated that this contract comes within the framework of implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, the President of the Republic, to transform Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics, transit trade and restore the strength of the Egyptian commercial fleet, as a huge economic tool and a basic pillar of the national economy. This contract comes as a continuation of fruitful cooperation with the Chinese Hunting Arsenal, which is one of the largest global arsenals Specialized in building this type of ship, and is characterized by its ability to implement its projects according to the latest international designs and technologies.
Transport: Signing a contract to build two Kamsarmax ships in cooperation with a Chinese arsenal
Adding that the two ships will be built according to the latest current and future environmental requirements and according to the latest technologies in terms of body design to reduce fuel consumption, in addition to that the main machine of Man B & W manufacture Economist for energy, and the ship is equipped with the latest navigation systems, which qualifies it to achieve the best operation as possible for this type of ships, pointing out that the total load for each ship is 82 thousand tons, and the length of one ship is 229 meters, and its width is 32.26 meters, and it is 14.5 meters. They are planned to receive during the months of September 2028 and November 2028.
The minister indicated that this signature also comes as a continuation of the series of important contracts concluded by the National Navigation Company to support its commercial fleet. During the past two years, the Kamsarmax Valley of the Kamsarmax was inaugurated 82 thousand tons, which His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi raised the Egyptian flag on it during the presidential opening of the multi -purpose “Live Egypt” station in Alexandria Port in mid -June 2023.
This was followed by the receipt of the “Kamsarmax” KamsarMax car, 82,000 tons in January 2024, which Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, witnessed the Egyptian flag, which was raised during the launch of the first Egyptian -Italian Ruro line trips at the end of November 2024.
Those steps followed by the signing of the contract to build two other ships of the same style and technologies only three months after the receipt of that ship, to embody these successive steps the major start to support the national commercial fleet in implementation of the presidential directives, indicating that with this new contract and with the receipt of these ships, the National Navigation Company has been supported with 6 new ships during the last three years and replacing and renewing nearly 54% of its fleet To reach 18 ships, as part of the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Transport and the National Navigation Company to achieve strategic goals in strengthening the national commercial fleet, in line with the leading position of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the field of maritime transport in the Middle East.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, explained that the Ministry of Transport is implementing a plan for the arrival of the commercial ships fleet of its subsidiaries to 36 ships by 2030, including companies, national navigation, the Arab Bridge of Navigation, Cairo for phrases, and the Egyptian for oil tankers, with the aim of maximizing the ability of the national fleet to transport strategic goods, including grains, oil and passengers, between Egypt and the rest of the world.
