The Services Committee of the Shura Council, headed by Dr. Jamila Mohamed Reda Al -Salman, held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Labor and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in the presence of Nebras Muhammad Talib, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, to discuss a draft law amending Article (4) of Law No. (19) of 2006 regarding the regulation of the labor market (prepared in light of the proposal of the law presented by the Veravan House of Representatives).
The draft law aims to compel the ministry concerned with labor affairs, to include the maximum total number of work permits issued by the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in a specific period of time in the national plan on the labor market, instead of parties to include the maximum number of work permits in all sectors in accordance with each profession or activity.
After the committee members ’deliberations with the concerned authorities, on the feasibility of the obligation to set a maximum limit for the permits of work in the national plan through the draft law, or to maintain the current text, which allows the concerned authority to set the maximum limit or not, and to raise a number of inquiries and questions regarding the draft law, the committee decided to refer its report on the draft law to the council’s office in preparation for its discussion during the next session.
