Archaeological evidence indicates that the island has been inhabited for nearly 9,000 years, and swords dating back to the Iron Age were found in a swamp there.
In 1321, King Robert Bruce gave her to the Campbell clan, before she later moved to the McLean clan. In 1910, a wealthy businessman bought it from Australia and built a “castle” at a cost of between 10 and 30 million pounds.
