Pope Tawadros II made a phone call, today, with the heaviness of the Patriarch John X Yazji, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East of the Greek Orthodox, for condolences in the terrorist attack that affected St. Elias Church in Damascus.

His Holiness, during the phone call, expressed the participation of the Coptic Orthodox Church of the families of the martyrs and those injured in their sorrows and pain. His Holiness also emphasized the condemnation of such evil actions, praying for the peace of the church, the country of Syria, the Middle East, and the whole world.
Earlier, the Presidency of the Syrian Republic announced that the Syrian transitional president, Ahmed Al -Shara, offered the deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of those who died in the bombing that targeted a church, in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The Syrian presidency added, in a statement from Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara: “We extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of those who died in the criminal bombing that afflicted all the Syrian people and we hope for a speedy recovery of the wounded.
He said: This hideous crime that targeted the safe innocents in the role of their worship reminds us of the importance of solidarity and unity – the government and people – in the face of everything that threatens our security and the stability of our homeland.
He continued: Today we all stand in one row, rejecting injustice and criminality in all its forms, and we pledge to the began that we will continue the night during the day, converging all of our competent security services, to control everyone who participated and plans for this heinous crime, and to bring them to the judiciary to obtain their fair reward.
