On Friday, France condemned the recent Israeli raids on Beirut’s southern suburbs, and called on Israel to “withdraw as soon as possible from all Lebanese lands,” in a statement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Thursday evening, Israel launched air strikes on the Hezbollah stronghold, which is the most violent since the ceasefire agreement in November 2024 and threatened on Friday by continuing its raids if the Lebanese state did not remove the party’s weapon.

“Paris calls on all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement,” said the French Foreign Ministry.

She stressed that “France reaffirms that the monitoring mechanism under the ceasefire agreement is a list to help the parties face threats and prevent any escalation that would harm the security and stability of Lebanon and Israel.”

The French Foreign Ministry emphasized that “the dismantling of unauthorized military sites on Lebanese territory from the responsibility of the Lebanese armed forces” is mainly supported by the United Nations temporary power in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire after the raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The last raids on the southern suburbs occurred on April 27.
