His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of Babco Enemz, witnessed the signing ceremony of three cooperation agreements between the Arab Company for Building and Reform of Ships (family) and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), the pioneering global engine in trade and logistical services, with the aim of expanding the horizons of cooperation in a number of biological maritime fields.
On this occasion, His Highness stressed that the signing of the agreements represents a qualitative shift in the path of Gulf cooperation and strengthens the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a regional center for sustainable marine industries and services, and supporting efforts to shift towards the circular economy.
His Highness added, “We believe that investing in qualitative partnerships constitutes the cornerstone of consolidating the Kingdom’s competitiveness in vital sectors such as marine industries and logistical services, and these agreements embody an effective model of integration between Gulf competencies and international expertise, and opens broad horizons for growth, especially in the areas of dry basins and shipbuilding and marine recycling with some responsible environmental methods It enhances our commitment to sustainable development and innovation paths. “
The first agreement included the establishment of a joint company to manage dry basins and shipbuilding basins, with the aim of benefiting from the capabilities and facilities of each party within the scope of its current operations in this sector, and the agreement will have a prominent impact in enhancing the capabilities of management and development of dry basins and shipbuilding in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, and heading to expansion and growth in other markets and regions.
As for the second agreement, it comes to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of managing and operating ports.
The two parties also signed an additional agreement with a third party represented by the leading GMPXi company in the field of marine services, ports, logistics and technology. Where this agreement focuses on establishing and developing facilities for recycling ships with sustainable and environmentally friendly methods, with the aim of strengthening the circular economy by reusing the parts and components of ships and reducing waste, which reflects positively on the reduction of carbon emissions; Environmental recycling operations in the shipping sector, dismantling of ships and reusing them include environmentally responsible, which contributes to maintaining natural resources and reducing pollution.
“After the great success that we achieved by establishing the joint project with the Arab Company for Building and Reforming Ships (family), we look forward to enhancing our cooperation and consolidating our presence in the areas of shipbuilding and dry pond services, based on our firm partnership and strong work relationships.”
He added: “This agreement comes to open the door to achieving more achievements and accelerate the frequency of growth in our operations. We also attach special importance to exploring the opportunities available to create advanced and environmentally friendly facilities for ships recycling, and ensuring that they are withdrawn from service in a safe and environmentally responsible.”
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al -Abri, CEO of the Arab Company for the Building and Reform of Ships (Asiri) said: “We are proud to enhance and expand our strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group through these new agreements. It comes within the framework of joint experiences and advanced infrastructure of both parties, and to keep pace with global changes in the fields of marine industry, and we aim to enhance our capabilities in the field of dry ponds and build ships at the level of the countries of the Cooperation Council The Arab Gulf and abroad on the one hand, and the development of our capabilities in the field of green recycling for ships on the other hand, in addition to entering one of the important fields, which is the management and operation of the ports, and these initiatives come as an affirmation of our continuous commitment to consolidating the culture of innovation and operational excellence and advancing the growth in the marine sector.
These agreements come as a continuation of the joint project “Asiri Marine Services”, which was established between “Nahwom Naval”, operating under the umbrella of the marine sector and shipping of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the Arab Company for Building and Reforming Ships, with the aim of providing an integrated group of marine services in Bahrain.
This new cooperation is a strategic step towards enhancing the maritime capabilities of both parties and expanding their regional spread, which contributes to stimulating the diversification of investment and innovation and enhancing the growth of the maritime sector.
