Jordan announced on Saturday evening the closing of its air field, and the Syrian airlines suspended all its flights scheduled for Sunday, as a result of security tensions in the region between Israel and Iran.
Jordan suspended the air navigation movement and closed its air field “until another notice” after a new wave of escalation and the exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran.
The head of the Civil Aviation Organization Authority, Haytham Masso, said in a statement that the civil aviation movement was suspended in front of all the upcoming, departing and passing aircraft of the Kingdom until further notice. “
The announcement came minutes after the sirens of warning in Amman and other cities on Saturday night, and inviting citizens to the necessity of homes and staying away from windows and open places, according to “Agence France Presse”.
Masso explained that the decision to suspend the air traffic again “comes in anticipation of any risks due to the ongoing events in the region, and within the procedures of the precautionary body in order to preserve the safety of aviation and passengers.”
Jordan announced on Saturday morning the opening of its air field after it temporarily closed it on Friday after the Israeli strikes on Iran, stressing “the continued evaluation of the risks” with the possibility of closing it again.
Syrian Airlines announced the suspension of all its flights scheduled today, and explained in a statement that “the suspension of flights will continue until further notice, in order to ensure the safety of travelers and flight crews, and based on coordination with the competent authorities in civil aviation.”
Airlines called on all travelers to follow up on developments through official channels, or communicate with reservation and inquiries, to know the details related to their trips and their schedule.
On Saturday morning, the Lebanese and Syrian authorities reopened their airspace to airline after a temporary closure, which necessitated the abolition of flights and the reschedule of others, on the impact of the escalation between Israel and Iran.
International airlines canceled flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran and other destinations in the Middle East, or changed the paths of Friday aircraft.
