The economist Dr. Akbar Jaafari called on the competent authorities to announce annually for unwanted specialties in the labor market, similar to what the State of Kuwait is doing in conjunction with the announcement of the results of the high school, which helps students make more accurate decisions regarding their academic and vocational future.
Jaafari stressed, in a statement to “Al -Watan”, that unwanted graduates of specialization need a period of no less than two years to rehabilitate them to work in specializations close to the market, while graduates of the required specializations can be qualified within only six months.
He stressed the importance of educating the community about the required specializations, saying: “If the goal of education is not to obtain a job, what is its benefit? A balance between personal desire and market requirements must be achieved. He explained that the government bears the responsibility for raising awareness of the required specialties, calling for analyzing the jobs published in the newspapers and evaluating them statistically.
He pointed to the importance of the applied educational system, suggesting that the skills percentage be 70% and theoretical knowledge is 30%, which guarantees the readiness of the graduates to immediately engage in the labor market. He also expressed his admiration for the experiences of countries such as Malaysia, South Korea and Norway, which has developed its educational systems to meet the needs of the economy.
