Yesterday evening, a group of Israeli settlers set fire to the Israeli military security facility north of Ramallah in the West Bank, in an incident that the army described as a “dangerous escalation” that threatens the safety of civilians and undermines efforts to prevent terrorist attacks.

An advanced and expensive facility … and a message of revenge

The targeted facility is one of the sensitive sites, costing millions of Shawqal, as it contains advanced monitoring systems and security cameras. Its walls were found and the phrase was written on it: “In revenge for the shooting, greetings from Beit Chan,” in referring to the shooting incident that occurred on Saturday and a 14 -year -old Israeli boy, an incident that sparked widespread anger among settlers.

The Israeli army warns against undermining security

In an official statement, the Israeli army said that the destruction of the security facility “is a direct threat to the security of the population” in Ramallah, as these facilities play a decisive role in monitoring threats and preventing armed operations.

Previous riots and confrontations

The incident preceded riots carried out by settlers near a military base in the area, which led to clashes with the security forces. The army issued a statement condemning the violence, stressing that “the security services are expected to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice, even if they are Israeli civilians,” and stressed his commitment to “protecting citizens and enforcing law without exception.”

An official investigation and an angry government position opened

Israeli police and firefighting units announced the opening of an investigation into the incident, and pictures were published showing widespread damage to the facility and the effects of the writings that they had taken. The extremist right -wing finance minister condemned the Smutrich’s offspring, and wrote on the “X” platform: “Criminals are criminals anywhere in the state.” He added: “Violence against army and police soldiers and the destruction of property is a red line, and the perpetrators must be brought to justice.”
