Israeli radio reported the killing of a woman and the injury of 53 people, in addition to widespread destruction, as a result of an intense Iranian missile attack targeting the Greater Tel Aviv region and a number of Israeli cities and towns.
Rescue teams continue their operations to evacuate the stranded and provide first aid, amid great damage to buildings and vehicles.
Israeli media sources indicated that the attack caused a state of public panic, with air defense systems activating to intercept missiles.
The Israeli army called on the residents to remain in the shelters until further notice, while Iran announced that the operation came in response to previous Israeli attacks.
