The Ministry of Health and Population has directed a number of preventive guidelines to protect citizens from health complications caused by hot weather, especially with the increased risk of sunstroke or heat stress, in light of the meteorological expectations of high temperatures during the coming period, and the approaching summer.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Health and Population, stressed the necessity of following the preventive measures, as thermal stress and sunstrokes are among the most dangerous cases in the summer, explaining that they differ in symptoms and the degree of risk.

He explained that thermal stress occurs due to the body’s loss of fluids and salts as a result of exposure to severe heat, and its symptoms range from headaches, dizziness, muscle spasms, and abundant sweating, with pallor of the skin, nausea, pulse speed, and high temperature to about 38 degrees Celsius, indicating that first aid begins to transfer the injured to a cold place, give him fluids, cool his body with compresses Water.

He said that the sun’s strikes are an emergency that threatens life, and occurs when the body fails to regulate its temperature, which leads to a height of the 40 degrees Celsius, including symptoms, sweating, dry skin and redness, delirium, loss of consciousness, and spasm seizures, explaining that first aid is to cool the body immediately, to love the transfer of the injured to the hospital urgently.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population gave preventive advice to counter hot weather, foremost of which is a lot of drinking water and natural juices, avoiding caffeine or sugars, and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight, especially from 11 am to 4 pm, and wearing light and loose cotton clothes, with a hat and sun glasses when going out.

He also advised to close the windows during the day, use air coolers or fans, ventilate homes at night, not to leave children, elderly or chronic diseases in bad ingredients or high temperatures, and immediately heading to the nearest hospital, when severe symptoms such as loss of consciousness or acute temperature appear.

He concluded his speech by emphasizing that the Ministry of Health and Population provides all the necessary medical services through emergency hospitals and units, which are spread at the level of the Republic, calling on citizens to follow the instructions to ensure their safety during the summer.
