In the early hours of Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, violent explosions in the sky of the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as a result of intense Iranian missile shelling targeting separate areas in Israel.
Israeli media reported the activation of sirens in wide parts of the country, amid reports of Israeli air defenses confronting dozens of ballistic missiles launched by Iran as part of an operation that Tehran called “the sincere promise 3”.
The Israeli army announced the monitoring of hundreds of missiles coming from Iran, noting that the air defense systems, with the help of American forces, have succeeded in intercepting a large number of them.
Despite this, preliminary reports reported the injury of buildings in Greater Tel Aviv, with reports of casualties and injuries, without confirming official figures so far. Israeli sources also stated that explosions in Jerusalem, with reports of material damage.
For its part, the Iranian news agency “IRNA” said that the attack comes in response to the Israeli strikes that targeted nuclear facilities and military leaders in Iran on June 13.
The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, confirmed that the Iranian response is “overwhelming and continuous”, stressing the targeting of Israeli strategic military sites.
The region is witnessing a state of extreme tension, as several countries have closed its air field, while the United Nations called for restraint to avoid a dangerous regional escalation.
The Israeli army continues the maximum alert, while summoning the reserve forces and tightening security measures in the main cities.
