Within the framework of the active participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the mechanism of reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Anti -Corruption Agreement, a delegation of government experts at the Ministry of Interior participated in the work of the Qatari visit to the People’s Republic of China, with the aim of reviewing China’s implementation of the provisions of the agreement, specifically the second chapter (preventive measures) and the fifth semester (recovering assets).
In this context, Colonel Hussein Salman Matar, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, head of the delegation, affirmed that the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this review is an extension of its active role in supporting international efforts to combat corruption, noting that the government experts team from the Kingdom of Bahrain, in cooperation with their counterparts from the Republic of Panama, and under the supervision of the Secretariat of the Conference of the Parties, analyzed the self -evaluation list provided by the Chinese side, evaluating the extent of its compatibility with Provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
He explained that the review mechanism aims to determine the extent of the compatibility of the legal legal and institutional frameworks with the provisions of the agreement, and to present a joint Qatari review report that includes the most prominent practices, challenges and technical observations, in a way that contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of implementing the agreement at the international level.
This visit came within the review mechanism approved by the Conference of the Parties, which is determined through the lottery, the states that take charge of the implementation of other countries of the agreement, where the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Panama reviewed the implementation of the People’s Republic of China.
This participation embodies the constant commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to support transparency and integrity and enhance international cooperation in the field of fighting corruption, which reflects its position as a responsible and active party in global efforts aimed at strengthening governance and the rule of law.
